"Loving Precious Humanity"
"Nothing is More Powerful than an Idea
Whose Time has Come" - Victor Hugo
Written in 1862 by Victor Hugo, "Les Misérables" is one of the greatest works of transformational world literature.
In the Preface Hugo itemized 3 major issues of his time.
Les Miserables: Preface
"So long as there shall exist, by reason of law and custom, a social condemnation, which, in the face of civilisation, artificially creates hells on earth & complicates a destiny that is divine, with human fatality; so long as the three problems of the age: 1) the degradation of man by poverty, 2) the ruin of woman by starvation & 3) the dwarfing of childhood by physical & spiritual night...are not solved; so long as, in certain regions, social asphyxia shall be possible; in other words & from a yet more extended point of view, so long as ignorance & misery remain on earth, books like this cannot be useless."
Victor Hugo, 1862
Music With A Message
While Hugo's creative work appeals to the minds of People; more powerful is "music with a message"; an experience that stirs the heart of humanity and re-kindles the fires of imagination and creative works.
