Do You Want More Customers AND Lower Your Marketing Costs?

Bottom line, the secret to organic or free traffic is search-engine optimization or SEO. Websites can be easily found and indexed by the search engines, right? Well, the search engines literally have billions of indexed-web pages stored in their data drawers. So, the secret is to not only be “visible” to the search engines, but quickly “matched” to the keywords entered into the search engine used by end-users. You want your site “served up” and “visible” on the front-page to the end users searching in these engines for specific information.
Simply put, each search engine crawls the entire Internet on a regular basis to make sure they know every web site. For search engines, their value is in having a complete directory of index of every website. Once your site  is discovered by the search engines it becomes ‘indexed’ or listed. Next, the engine evaluates what your site is about by evaluating the “content” that is found and indexed. Since the search is totally automated, your website theme is defined by the content on your site. Much the same as a physical piece of property is defined by the building structures (residential, multi-family, commercial or industrial) the words or content on your site tell the “crawling spiders” an idea of what your site is about.

Everyday, people are looking for specific information from Google, Yahoo or Bing. Rather than searching for answers based on themes, a searcher is looking for specific information.  Accordingly, they enter “keywords” that relate specifically to the information or results they are seeking. These “keywords” or phrases that are put into a search engine are what tells the search engine to “deliver up” in terms of results or specific information relating to the searchers request.

Now, back to the real estate example...while both commercial and residential housing come under the general theme of real estate, if an end-user is wanting information relating to commercial properties, the the task of the search engine is to match the commercial-keywords entered by the end-user with the themes for each web site and deliver to the user the most helpful information on the Internet relating to the user’s request. Now, this is where search engine optimization becomes important. A well-organized web site containing the keywords that you anticipate web-searchers are likely to enter into the search engine, the task of delivering meaningful results to the end-user much easier. The search engine is able to match your site’s words or content more quickly and efficiently to the “keywords” used by the end-users.

Optimizing your site is the process of matching your site’s URL, words or content to keywords. Helping the search engines match your site to an end-user’s keywords is what search engine optimization (SEO) is all about. An efficient match makes the job of the search engine easier. A match between the end-user’s keywords and your site means that more people find your site. You “get more traffic” and the opportunity to convert that increased traffic into “happy-paying customers”!
